Duties

Help
  • Queries, monitors and controls various application systems to effectuate entitlement and/or change pending actions.
  • Evaluates pending cases to ensure that all pertinent information/documentation has been obtained.
  • Establishes, adjusts/removes, reconstructs, reinstates and audits earnings related records online and through the preparation of necessary forms in accordance with procedures.
  • Directs the investigations of earnings records involving multiple and/or wrong account numbers, scrambled wages, earnings discrepancies, etc.
  • Provides assistance to beneficiaries and inquirers about earnings data and programs administered by the Social Security Administration.
  • Investigates and reconciles discrepant benefit situations which could cause interruption in the receipt of monthly benefits.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-06 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position Such experience would include analyzing issues and making determinations on cases, reviewing guidelines and regulations to determine the specific provisions that are applicable to each case, determining the status of the case and the time expected for processing the case, determining claim amounts taking into account the particular personal circumstances of the individual claimant, investigating and resolving earnings discrepancies and out of balance earnings reports, assisting employers with earnings reporting issues.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants must be eligible under the following category:

  • Displaced or surplus Federal employees eligible under the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP).
In addition to meeting the basic eligibility criteria, ICTAP applicants must be well qualified for the position. Well-qualified is defined as having knowledge, skills, and abilities that clearly exceed the minimum qualification requirements for the position. Under numeric rating procedures, qualified ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of 85 or higher to be eligible for selection.

Additional selections may be made for this vacancy six months from the closing date of this announcement.
