Summary

About the Position: You will serve as a Training Instructor (Writer) in Civilian Leader Development, as part of the Army Management Staff College (AMSC) and the Civilian Education System (CES). You will design, develop, and deliver original graduate and undergraduate level courses in a resident setting, through a mobile education team, or through distributed learning, ranging on topics from interpersonal skills to national security issues and often requiring broad interdisciplinary knowledge.

Duties

Help
  • As a Training Instructor (Writer), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
  • Design, develop, revise, and deliver courses for the full range of offerings in the progressive and sequential Civilian Education System.
  • Educational design and delivery are planned and executed in accordance with the Army Learning Model and the courses range from undergraduate to graduate level education.
  • Due to the highly diverse student body at AMSC, the incumbent must exercise exceptional skill in instructional design methods, practices, and programs that are grounded in adult learning theory.
  • Perform needs assessments and evaluates student learning in terms of adequacy of coverage and accomplishment of approved course and/or course module learning outcomes and learning objectives.
  • Support a continuous college research regime of formative and summative evaluation of lesson, module, course and system content to facilitate work force development, achieve return on investment and improve the Continuous Adaptive Learning Model.
  • Serve as a specialized advisor/consultant to the college in a particular competency or area of technical expertise, that is, performs as a recognized subject matter expert for Army Civilian Corps Leader Development in a given leader competency.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience teaching and instructing adult graduate and/or undergraduate level courses; designing courseware for an adult education learning environment; AND performing research on emerging technologies, content and instructional delivery methods.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
