Duties

Help
  • Calibrate all types of electronic, electrical, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical, and dimension valuable measurement systems.
  • Adapt standards to available calibration procedures.
  • Prepare calibration reports.
  • Interpret electronic principles to collect, reduce, display, and analyze calibration data.
  • Interpret technical procedures and schematics to adapt them to special purpose test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment assignments.
  • Provide feedback to management, customers and the activity.
  • Determine proper calibration procedures to be used.
  • Repair test, measurement and diagnostic equipment to identify cause of discrepancies/deficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural changes as well as policies, personnel, and other management programs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to perform common Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator tasks such as calibrate and repair test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Collect measurable data using metrology, electrical, electronic and electromagnetic theories, mechanical, pneumatic and nuclear science effectively to share information as needed. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed..- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts- The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or
bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

Working Conditions- The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.

Education
