This Summer Hire program is designed to provide eligible overseas family member youths an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, prepare for future educational and career goals, and support the Army mission during the summer season.
Clerical duties are in an office environment and may include typing, filing, receptionist work, customer service and answering telephones.
Laborer duties are more physical in nature and may include working indoors/outdoors, light to moderate lifting, and yard work.
Summer Hire candidates may be placed in either Clerk or Laborer positions depending on their preference.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Qualifications
The six week Summer Hire Program is temporary in nature and designed to provide eligible overseas family member youths an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, it is highly desired that applicants be available to work the entire six weeks.

Employment Authority/Eligibility Requirements:
You are eligible for this hiring category if you are a Family member according to DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 1232, in that you are a Family member of a:
Member of the U.S. Forces on active duty;
U.S.citizen civilian employee of a U.S. Government agency; or
Regular full-time or part-time civilian employee of a DOD nonappropriated fund instrumentality (NAFI).
AND
A spouse under 18 years of age in high school;
An unmarried U.S.-citizen family member 14 through 22 years of age (including stepchild, adopted child, and child under the legal guardianship of sponsor or sponsor's spouse); or
An unmarried non-U.S.-citizen Family member in Germany 15 through 22 years of age (including stepchild, adopted child, and child under the legal guardianship of sponsor or sponsor's spouse)
AND
Physically reside in the same household with your sponsor at the time of application (unless attending a college or university in the United States) and during employment.
NOTE: The following individuals are not eligible for placement in the U.S. Army in Europe Summer Hire Program:
Family members of contractor employees
Family members of local national employees
Dual-nationality citizens with U.S. citizenship and citizenship in the country of intended placement
Family members considered an ordinarily resident
Family member youths will be employed in routine, nonhazardous, unskilled clerical or labor positions that do not require experience or training.
Youths do not need to meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook for General Schedule Positions or take tests to be employed in the YEP-SH Program.
Education
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of eligibility which may include verification of family member status, social security or tax identification number, and a work permit, if required.
Temporary positions are at the will of management.
Direct deposit of pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
Summer Hire candidates will receive notification of their work assignment via email or phone once placements are made.
Changes to work assignments will not be permitted.

Summer Hire candidates must be placed within the commuting area of their sponsor's duty station.
Due to the length of the appointment, employees are not entitled to benefits such as; life insurance, retirement, health benefits, etc.
Summer Hire employees are not permitted to operate forklifts; are not permitted to perform duties requiring use of a respirator; and do not clean latrines.
Program dates may not be adjusted to accommodate previously scheduled vacations/leave.

Basis for Placement:
