Perform economic analysis and/or research relative to the program(s) of the organization to which assigned.
Plan and carry out complex studies and analyses including determination of data needed to complete assignments; sources, reliability, and availability of such data; method of collections; and evaluation techniques to be used in interpreting findings.
Determine techniques for data processing and analysis, and for planning the presentation of findings.

Due to COVID-19, the Census Bureau is currently in an expanded telework posture. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 calendar days. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period consistent with the Census Bureau's telework policy and approval from your supervisor.

This is a Term Appointment, initial appointment Not-to-Exceed (NTE) 2 years. This appointment may be extended an additional year at management's discretion.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
AND
Specialized Experience:For theGS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: conducting independent, original economic research in applied microeconomics fields such as health, income, poverty, labor economics, econometrics or in macroeconomics; utilizing statistical packages to analyze household survey microdata or administrative record data using appropriate econometric techniques in the analysis and interpretation of economic research questions; providing written analysis to communicate economic findings; presenting research findings to professional organizations or academic audiences.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
