Duties

Help

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement an effective strategy for scientific advisory committee oversight and peer review.
  • Organize and facilitate scientific meetings, conferences, or workshops.
  • Plan and direct the evaluation of research programs and the discussion of specific scientific topics.
  • Direct a service unit to facilitate and manage scientific peer review of documents or research findings.
  • Research, compile, analyze, and report complex information on a variety of scientific topics for communication to varied audiences.
  • Prepare responses to external inquiries concerning scientific programs and advisory committee activities.
  • Serve on special project teams and organizing committees for scientific workshops/conferences.
  • Serve as liaison to external groups, make presentations, and staff exhibits at national or local meetings.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: You possess a Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: You must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in or managing internal or external scientific advisory groups and/or peer review activities; leading and motivating individuals to work together to achieve specific scientific goals; preparing scientific presentations and communicating the information to scientific and non-scientific audiences; organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet specific organizational deadlines; researching and reporting complex information on scientific topics.

You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
