This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ), Quality, Safety, & Oversight Group (QSOG), Division of Clinical Laboratory Improvement & Quality (DCLIQ).

As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serve as the Branch Chief and guide staff and teams, responsible for developing and improving strategies to enforce and monitor the CLIA program.

Duties

Help
  • Lead special projects or studies of considerable scope and depth that are critical to the resolution of Branch operational issues and organizational problems.
  • Provide expert technical advice and assistance to State Agency staff performing CLIA surveys and other work pertaining to CLIA.
  • Provide expert technical advice and assistance (including quality improvement, performance management ideas, and work planning) to senior managers and staff to assure the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of CMS/CCSQ-wide strategic plans.
  • Represent DCLIQ and senior CMS officials in conferences, task forces, technical discussions, and consultations with other CMS and departmental components, congressional staffs, and outside professional organizations in resolving issues.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Government to include: (1) Monitoring organizational programs to ensure compliance with policy and program guidelines; (2) Providing technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on matters pertaining to quality improvement, performance management ideas, or work planning; and (3) Leading projects or studies for use in the resolution of operational issues/organizational problems.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.

Salary is dependent upon location- Boston: $121,243 - $157,614; Chicago: $120,755 - $156,979; New York: $125,817 - $163,559; Philadelphia: $118,360 - $153,866; Woodlawn: $122,530 - $159,286.

COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate: In accordance with Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to exceptions that may be required by law.
