Help

  • Develops procedures and methodologies that improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the lifecycle management (creation, retention, maintenance, processing, use, access, release, safeguarding, final disposition) of FDIC records and documentation.
  • Serves as a technical authority in the use of electronic records management and provides assistance and guidance to staff, users, customers, and others in resolving day-to-day program issues.
  • Develops records retention schedules for information created, captured, or maintained by FDIC systems, services, or applications.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to managers, employees, and division/office records liaisons on records management principles, including records retention and disposition, archiving, training, and electronic recordkeeping requirements.
  • Develops and administers training on Corporate RIM policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 12 grade level or above in the Federal service.   Specialized experience is defined as researching, interpreting, and applying records and information management (RIM) laws, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures; developing records retention schedules including for electronic information systems; providing guidance and training on electronic records management in systems, databases, and other repositories.
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-13 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience researching, interpreting, and applying records and information management (RIM) laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures and recommending changes to policies and procedures impacted by new and/or revised laws and regulations and advances in technology; developing records retention schedules including for electronic information systems; and developing and providing guidance and training on electronic records management in systems, databases, and other repositories.

  1. Skill in applying records management principles.
  2. Skill in the use of records classification and retention in document management and records management systems.
  3. Knowledge of automation principles that govern the design, testing, and implementation of information systems, data storage media and records management applications.
  4. Ability to communicate in writing to develop training materials, policies and procedures related to RIM.
  5. Ability to communicate verbally with managerial, program, technical personnel, within and outside the agency.
