Summary

VA St. Louis Health Care System is recruiting for full-time, board certified or board eligible, Internal Medicine or Family Practice physicians to join our Primary Care faculty.

This is an open continuous announcement. The announcement will be opened until September 30, 2022. Applications will be reviewed weekly. Applicants that are found eligible will have their applications forwarded to the selection manager for further consideration.

Duties

Help

The Physician will evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to ambulatory adults outpatients at John Cochran Division, Jefferson Barracks Division and/or Community Based Outpatient Clinics with both common and complex illnesses.

Duties for Primary Care faculty include providing direct patient care in an outpatient setting. There are also opportunities to engage in population health management and quality improvement projects. Prior training or clinical experience is preferred.

Adhere to local policies, procedures and directives related to timeliness of documentation and encounters for verification of patient visits, findings and medical recommendations in the electronic medical record. Use Computerized Patient Record System to review and update patient's electronic medical record.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, some sites may have evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Physical requirements outlined below.
Preferred Experience: Board certified or board eligible.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds; straight pulling (4 hours); pushing (4 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (2 hours);standing (7 hours); kneeling (1 hour); repeated bending (4 hours); both legs required; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far-vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability required.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period.
