Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to mix and serve pre-mixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar.

  • Operates limited service bars. Prepares a limited variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting proper premix and garnish.. Serves beer, soda, and wine. Serves patrons directly or delivers to waiter.
  • Receives payment, operates cash register, and makes and returns change to patrons or waiter.
  • Sets up bar for operation and obtains cash bank. Maintains work area neat and clean. Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils. Stocks service bars and assists higher-level bartender as required.
  • May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying of objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, which includes knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages.
  • Able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed
  • Able to follow cash handling procedures
  • Physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, push and pull objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, and possess skill in dealing with the public.
Must be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 requirements or must present a medical or religion exemption to the vaccination requirements.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

  • According to Executive Order 14043, "Guidance on Applying Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination Requirements to New Hires": New Department of the Air Force civilian employees must be fully vaccinated by their entry on duty (start) date or November 22, 2021, whichever is later. If a new hire intends to request a medical or religious exemption, the start date will be delayed until the exemption process is complete and applicant is either approved for an exemption, or becomes fully vaccinated.
