Duties

Help
  • Coordinating with the supervisor to develop materials used for formulating, justifying, and executing budgets and monitoring expenditure of funds.
  • Reviewing management analysis programs to recommend improvements of major problem areas in administrative management.
  • Planning, developing, and maintaining systems and procedures for personnel management activities, completing and/or reviewing personnel action requests.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact and Government Purchase Cardholder for vendors and manufacturer representatives. Makes recommendations for purchases of supplies.
  • Serve as the primary property custodian for office accountable property.
  • Provide guidance to staff on policy and procedures for preparing and reviewing travel authorizations and vouchers.
  • Review and analyze incoming correspondence.

  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience administrative management, formulating and executing budgets, training and employee development, facility space, design and allotment, management of day-to-day administrative services, property management and procurement, utilizing law enforcement administrative databases and law enforcement case management systems, overseeing training requirements.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT GS-09 LEVEL: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more that 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Combination of education and experience: You can qualify with a combination of education and experience. Only graduate education in excess of the Bachelor's degree semester hours (2 years) may be used to qualify. The percentage of the education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent. If you qualify by combining education and experience, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required.
