Duties

Help

This position is located in the Aviation Materiel Management section of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). Its purpose is to control, oversee, coordinate, and implement the specific functions of Aviation Material Repairable Exchange and Hazardous Material identification, handling and disposal. Serves as the technical advisor /and point of contact for matters related to hazardous materials.

(1) Identifies and handles hazardous materials in storage areas.

(2) Responsible to identify, collect, process and consolidate hazardous waste in preparation for disposal.

(3) Performs a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment.

(4) Assists with the development of facility regulations, and operating instructions that relate to hazardous materials management and HAZMAT safety procedures.

(5) Assist with the accomplishment of normal supply transactions i.e., requisitions, receives, stores, issues and accounts for a wide variety of supplies and equipment.

(6) Required to perform automated system administration functions such as working at a computer terminal to enter data, update or exchange information files, prepare and enter commands to execute established programs and perform nonroutine data searches.

(7) Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Military Grades: E3-E7

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
WG - Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
WG-07/08 - Experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles.
