Duties

Help
  • Brings data science expertise to bear against challenges impacting DTIC, R and E and the DoD S and T Community.
  • Principal investigator for data analysis requiring a high degree of technical competence in order to gauge the extent to which the perimeters of the state-of-the-art can be pushed.
  • Leverages data tools, collects data, and evaluates alternatives to assess projected capabilities for future mission support.
  • Analyzes complex data elements and systems, data flow, dependencies, and relationships in order to contribute to conceptual physical and logical data models; and develops data set processes.
  • Constructs data pipelines using complex tools and techniques to handle data at scale.
  • Conceives, plans, and conducts projects to include data convergence efforts for migration to cloud and edge computing through Industry, Government, and S and T efforts.
  • Engages with DoD and other federal organizations, Industry and Academia to conduct necessary stakeholder analysis to ensure analytics projects support S and T and end-user requirements.
  • Develops and aids in the production of documents, roadmaps, and strategies for data environment and architecture.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
Degree
: Mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS- 13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as using business intelligence techniques and toolsets to integrate business processes and drive informed decision making and manipulating and interrogating structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets inside their respective technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, SIEM, raw storage, streaming) to prepare them for ad hoc or operational analytical tasks and contribute to an organization's data management strategy.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
