If you are selected for the TERM appointment as the Personnel Security Specialist, your responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to:
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and primarily responsible for the implementation and administration of the personnel security program.
Formulate and Implement security policy, procedures, systems, and programs involving the loyalty and reliability of employees.
Determine suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
Make security determinations, conducts interviews when necessary, affording rights and due process, and request investigations on matters regarding reinvestigation requirements and related matters concerning the maintenance of security clearances.
Establish and maintains relationships with the Department security personnel in the implementation of OIG security programs. Provide management advisory services to OIG executives, managers, and employees on security programs, policies, procedures and practices. Serve as the e-QIP liaison between OPM and the OIG.
Maintain enterprise-wide background investigation and security clearance database, JSTARS and updates internal vital record data, as necessary.
Maintain an accurate courier card database. Prepare and issue credentials for employees.
Supports the OIG Security Programs Manager in a wide array of security tasks, as assigned.
You will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed two (2) years, which may be extended one (1) year based on workload requirements.
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
You must be registered for the Selective Service, if applicable.
You must successfully pass and are subject to random drug screenings.
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
