Duties

Primary responsibilities include projects such as the application and adaptation of new and improved approaches to the design, development, and implementation of testing, quality assurance configuration, installation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked and cloud systems used for the transmission of information in voice and data formats. Additionally, the incumbent provides diagnosis and resolution of network service problems and issues. The Information Technology Specialist executes multi-year plans utilizing cutting-edge cloud and security technologies and develops new policies or makes significant changes to existing policies. The incumbent is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing IT security requirements to meet current and evolving IT security requirements under FISMA. The position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The work of this position is to aid the EAC in accomplishing its mission by providing excellent technical support for all staff, being directly involved in the implementation of new technologies, working closely with the security team to assist in defending our network, and administrating the maintenance of our cloud environment. Specific assignment areas include responsibilities as follows:

  • Resolve escalated help desk tickets in a professional and timely manner as well as provide support to the Information Technology Specialist when the occasion arises.
  • The administration of our networking technologies and cloud infrastructure. This would include performing regular updates on all systems in a timely manner, documenting any technical changes to our environment, maintaining the backups of all our data and working with the security team to test them by performing restores on a periodic basis.
  • Participate in our regular FISMA audits as well as assist in our compliance to Executive Orders and Binding Operational Directives when they are issued.
  • Collaborates with management and senior leadership on long and short-term projects that require IT to support EAC's operational mission.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with EAC staff; Commissioners, Inspector General, shared services provider, partners, stakeholders, and others associated with the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of EAC's IT systems.
  • Stays current in the latest trends in IT and security as well as takes advantage of all training aimed at keeping their skillsets up to date.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Technical Competencies
  • At least two years of experience in a help desk, call center, or other technical support environment.
  • Hands on experience administering a cloud environment, mobile device management, and supporting staff remotely.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certification geared toward the foundations of IT support would be beneficial.
  • Be familiar with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Education

Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field is preferred.
