Summary
This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Mission Support Team, Office of Chief Information Officer.
Oversees infrastructure server infrastructure and services: Windows and Linux server operating systems, virtualization software, active directory, domain name servers (DNS), data backup, print and file servers.
Manages distribution of patches and updates to server and client systems.
Ensures that programs provide efficient and secure client system loads.
Ensures documentation of server systems.
Oversees staff in adherence to relevant security procedures in daily operations.
Oversees development of contract requirements and management of contract resources.
Provides leadership, oversight, and vision for a diverse team of federal and contract employees.
This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Position has been designated as Special Sensitive; incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.

Basic requirement:
Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions..
AND
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-13, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as Experience in leadership and oversight of IT personnel performing implementation and maintenance of server systems in a an enterprise environment; review and improvement of server systems; development of backup, Continuity of Operations and disaster recovery related to servers; and application of information assurance requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Certification standards. Level II certification is required prior to being authorized unsupervised privileged access.
