Duties

Help

As a Management & Program Analyst (Congressional Affairs), you will:

  • Serve as a specialist and subject-matter expert within the OIG's Legislative Affairs program, analyzing legislative records, bills, and documents and providing summaries and conclusions to management, including recommendations for next steps and potential impacts upon the HUD, the OIG, and their programs and operations.
  • Routinely draft official agency correspondence for dissemination amongst congressional staff and representatives.
  • In cooperation with the IG, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and other Senior OIG staff, build and maintain a positive relationship with HUD OIG colleagues in all components and implements and executes strategies for communicating effectively with the Congress, their staff, and Committee staff as well as other Federal agencies.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To be qualified for this position at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves:

-Keeping Congress informed of problems and deficiencies in Department programs and operations; AND
-Representing and interacting with officials in or out of the government to explain, promote, and resolve issues relating to an agency's mission; AND
-Writing briefing papers, presentations, and executive correspondence.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
