The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's role is to oversee various aspects of the energy industry, including transmission of electricity, natural gas and oil. We also analyze proposals to build liquefied natural gas terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines and license hydropower projects. To help support the modernization of the electric system here in the U.S., we are focusing on issues associated with a smarter grid.
This position is located in the Office of Enforcement's Division of Audits and Accounting. The Office of Enforcement serves the public interest by ensuring effective regulations and protecting customers through understanding markets and their regulation, timely identifying and remedying market problems, assuring compliance with Commission rules and regulations, and detecting and crafting remedies to address market manipulation and other non-compliance issues.
Major Duties for the position:
Understands and applies professional auditing principles, techniques, and theories to solve market, operational, accounting, and reporting issues at energy companies, including numerous Fortune 500
companies.
Performs basic to moderately complex analyses using spreadsheet applications and tools; identify, research, and support compliance issues involving market, operational, accounting, and reporting matters; obtain and
evaluate evidence to reach compliance conclusion; and document results in written working papers and other reports; communicate results effectively in written reports.
Assists in developing audit programs and risk assessments; work plans and milestones, and other resource requirements for Division's planning process. The effort requires research into basic regulatory, market, operational,
accounting, and reporting matters; emerging issues; prior and on-going Commission actions and audits; independent evaluations and examinations; discussions with other knowledgeable sources; and more.
Assists in performing audits, evaluations and examinations of market, operational, and financial accounting and reporting of natural gas and oil pipeline companies for consistency with Commission rules and regulations. Assists in developing audit report findings and recommendations for the disposition of all issues. Takes action to resolve or coordinate the resolution of issues with natural gas and oil pipeline companies.
Performs audit work independently and within a team environment; demonstrates ability to work with others and ability to defend your work product in a
meaningful, constructive, and professional manner.
