Duties

Help
  • Control, prepare and issue identification badges, cards and passes that allow access to the installation, or arrange for escorts, as appropriate.
  • Deny access to unauthorized personnel or those who do not meet authorized entry criteria.
  • Conduct traffic stops at the Installation Access Control Point Installations Access Control Points (IACP) for safety and security checks
  • Make instantaneous decisions regarding use of deadly force, operate Active Vehicle Barrier when required, and alert appropriate officials of apparent security violations.
  • Verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals, verbal questioning, and other means.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have or able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance Level.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program (IRP) certification in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned forearms/weapons.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo and pass a pre-employment and annually thereafter medical examinations of physical, emotional and mental stability.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification.
  • This position may require the incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid states driver's license prior to employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a prescribed uniform.
  • This position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential Position, incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required as directed.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of personnel or property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life which involved using the appropriate protective systems and techniques and determining the type of action to take and level of force to use. Acceptable specialized experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
