This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. This position is located in Research Services, Research Services Archival Operations, and reports to the Director, Personnel Records Division (RRP). The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a/an Archives Specialist, you will:
- Review existing NARA, Research Services and RRP regulations, policies and procedures, assist in the development and evaluation of programs, policies and procedures, and make recommendations concerning the full spectrum of the Division's archival duties.
- Identify and recommend information and process requirements to improve customer service through delivery of products and services.
- Perform complex assignments in the specialized technical aspects of work within the Case Management and Reporting System (CMRS), Holdings Management System (HMS), Electronic Record Archive (ERA), Description and Authority Service (DAS) and other appropriate electronic systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the use and advancement of NARA systems that facilitate physical and intellectual control of the records and execution of the Agency mission.
