Duties

Help

As a MODELING AND SIMULATION EVENT PLANNER at the GS-0301-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Designs and implements M&S architectures to support JS J7 Joint and Coalition training exercises.
  • Ensures that the M&S architectures are robust while having the flexibility to be reconfigured quickly to support emergent requirements.
  • The M&S Event Planner is responsible planning, integration, operation and maintenance of M&S systems and federations of M&S systems in support of multiple annual combatant command and Service Joint training events.
  • During exercises, assists the technical director for the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) and provides recommendations to the military, contractor and governmental matrixed team that establishes and provides reliable M&S systems to the JS J7 training staff and joint, Service and coalition exercise training audiences both in garrison and to deployed austere environments.
  • Analyzes and refines M&S and C4 support of JNTC events, and JS J7 operations, crises and contingencies.
  • Maintains liaison with the M&S systems architects of the Services, agencies and Unified Commands on issues concerning new technology/enhancements relative to exercise/contingency operations support.
  • Represents JS J7 in conferences and meetings with the Joint Staff, Unified Commands, Department of Defense, Services and others involved in joint exercises and contingency support on matters concerning JS J7 involvement.
  • Provides administrative assistance as required to the Chief, Technical Teams Branch.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Designing and implementing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) architectures to support training exercises;
  • Providing recommendations to the military, contractor and governmental matrixed team that establishes and provides reliable M&S systems; AND
  • Analyzing existing complex joint M&S systems and operations for improved effectiveness, responsiveness and economics.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
