Duties

Help
  • You will interpret physicians orders and provide initial assessment to orthopedic patients.
  • You will design exercise programs for patients in accordance with standard occupational therapy practices.
  • You will provide input and interaction with the therapist in planning and administering the individual treatment plan for each patient.
  • You will provide direct therapeutic care to a diverse patient population.
  • You will administer occupational therapy to walk in ambulatory general, medical, and surgical patients.
  • You will engage participants in purposeful activity to enhance patient functional restoration in a reasonable timeframe.
  • You will operate and adjust all clinical modalities equipment.
  • You will educate patients and family members on compliance with stated therapeutic goals.
  • You will fabricate custom splints.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Planning individualized treatment plans for patients on the orthopedic ward, in accordance with standard occupational therapy practices, ensuring appropriate progressions;
  • Providing direct therapeutic care by administering occupational therapy, and engaging participates in purposeful activities to enhance patient functional restoration in a reasonable time-frame;
  • Maintaining all clinical modalities/equipment including cleaning, adjusting or modifying crutches, splints or braces;
  • Educating patients, family members, and support staff regarding specific rehabilitation needs, limitations, expectations, and compliance with stated therapeutic goals.
