Summary

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is seeking a qualified Special Agent with experience in white-collar investigations involving alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws, ethics standards, and policies and practices of the agency. 1811 series candidates would be able to maintain their 1811 status.

Duties

Help

  1. Conducts interviews, follows up on leads, collects data and performs analysis, conducts surveillance, and prepares reports.
  2. Evaluates information and allegations.
  3. Presents investigative results both orally and in writing to prosecutors and appropriate authorities.
  4. Meets frequently with diverse internal and external audiences; builds relationships; establishes liaison and works closely with prosecutors.
  5. Testifies before juries and grand juries.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. Business related degree would be preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of federal law enforcement experience.
  • Must have completed a basic criminal investigations course at a federal criminal investigators academy.
  • Employment is subject to successful completion of a physical, psychological evaluation, drug screening, and background investigation.
  • Must be able to meet the medical standards and training qualifications prescribed for the Special Agent position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as position requires nation-wide travel.
  • Must meet applicable standards for law enforcement authority.
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and rules of evidence and criminal procedure, and precedential court decisions concerning admissibility of evidence, constitutional rights, search and seizure, and other issues relating to investigations.
  • Ability to recognize, develop new issues for investigation, and present evidence that reconstructs events, sequences, and time elements, and establishes relationships, responsibilities, legal liabilities, and conflicts of interest, in a manner that meets requirements for presentation in various administrative hearings and court proceedings.
  • Ability to analyze facts and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience presenting investigative findings to a broad audience.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze, draw conclusions from and summarize large data sets. Ability to use Microsoft Word to produce investigative reports and draft formal office communications. Ability to use PowerPoint to present exhibits and other investigative findings to diverse audiences. Experience using any other programs for conducting analysis on large quantities of data is a plus.
  • Experience using case management systems to store and secure information and adhere to formal document management practices.
  • Ability to develop confidential sources.
  • Experience as an 1811 Criminal Investigator or an equivalent position with experience with complex financial, contract and white-collar investigations.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. Business related degree would be preferred.
