Summary

This is a Senior Level (SL) position located in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, Enterprise, Architecture, and Data Group.

As the Chief Technology Architect, you will serve as the principal technology architect, creating technology standards, processes, and approaches for CMS to ensure the optimization of CMS' IT investments and information management practices and continuously enhance the cost-effective delivery of technological solutions.

Help
  • Design, implementation, and operations management of current and emerging technologies.
  • Provide overall leadership that includes advising product, program, and engineering teams, on the development, modernization, and streamlining of processes across CMS.
  • Provide technical leadership promoting modern, strategic, software development best practices including Agile methodologies, Cloud Computing, DevOps, Information Security, Test Driven Development and general software engineering best practices.
  • Responsible for shaping CMS? technology strategy and guiding the engineering efforts within organizations.
  • Collaborate on a technical level across CMS, and with outside partners.

In order to qualify for this SL position, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-15 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Managing one or more multi-year Information Technology (IT) initiatives that deliver complex web-based systems and infrastructures with a national presence, 2) Leading an Information Technology program; 3) Ensuring strategic alignment of IT system requirements with critical organization priorities; and 4) Overseeing systems architecture, tools, security, platforms and/or networks of an IT program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
