Duties

Help
  • Serves as a CYS Food and Nutrition Specialist with responsibility for the oversight and operation of the food program in Child Development Centers, Family Child Care Homes, School-Age Programs, and Middle School and Teen Programs at Level 3 and above
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert in nutritional needs of children from birth - 18 years of age
  • Conducts written observations/inspections in all CYS facilities, sites and homes (regardless of sponsorship) to meet USDA enrollment and Army requirements
  • Recruits and hires qualified Food Service Operation personnel utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions
  • Prepares separate healthy, balanced 4 - 6 week seasonal cycle menus for Child Development, SAS, and MST programs IAW USDA CACFP and Army policies i.e., portion sizes, meal patterns, and "seconds" requirements

Qualifications

Successful completion of a four (4) year college or university degree with a major course of study/substantial course work in dietetics, food nutrition, food service management, institutional management, or related science.

In addition, candidate must possess:

1. At least twelve (12) months demonstrated work experience directly related to food operation, preferably with children and youth, equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
2. Demonstrated program administration experience.
3. The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.

Night differential has been authorized by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Bargaining NF positions and will be paid at the rate of basic pay plus an additional 10 percent of that rate for all regular scheduled work between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (including periods of leave and holidays).

Pay band employees in pay levels NF-3 and above, including Off-Duty Military in those pay levels, and all Child & Youth employees, are entitled to receive non-foreign area allowances and differentials in the same amounts and under the same eligibility criteria prescribed for Appropriated Funds employees in the same locality.

This is a Regular Full-Time position with a minimum work week of 40 hours and eligible for benefits.
