As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Provide essential behavioral assessment, counseling, and referral services;
  • Provide confidential resiliency behavioral, physical, social, emotional and spiritual support;
  • Identify and deliver effective employee support.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Education AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

Basic Education:
You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Possess a combination of education and experience that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Providing critical counseling and referral services;
  • Utilizing interdisciplinary case consultation with health care professionals, as well as referring as appropriate for other critical services in order to address the holistic needs of the employee; and
  • Developing training materials and conducting training to advance the knowledge and understanding of the employee assistance program
