Duties

Help
  • Communicate information through various visual means using photographs, videos, illustrations, diagrams, graphics, graphs, objects, models, slides, and charts.
  • Respond to requests by determining the nature of the products needed, designing and producing the material and using the appropriate format and style.
  • Manage, analyze, and execute work necessary to design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain and modify visual information systems for solving problems and communicating diverse concepts.
  • Perform various administrative and logistical tasks to document work performed, order supplies and equipment, provide necessary documents to print or publish products for customers and assist in the effective operation of the Public Affairs Office.

  • Requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Qualifications

The DJ-3 pay band encompasses General Schedule (GS) grades 11 and 12.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DJ-2 pay band (GS-09 grade level equivalent) in the Federal service which includes: 1) conceptualizing, creating, capturing, editing, captioning and releasing various visual information products such as photos, video news packages, voice over sound tape (VOSOT) video packages, graphics, illustrations, social media vignettes, A-roll and B-roll packages and more; 2) developing and disseminating information through various multimedia communication methods and tools; and 3) applying commonly accepted multimedia design, prototypes, content management, and graphic design principles and methodologies to manage multimedia content and functionality.

Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.); OR a combination of education and specialized experience -- a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Only graduate education in excess of 2 years may be used to qualify applicants for this position based on a combination of experience and education. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DJ-1084-03 (equivalent to GS-11 to GS-12). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
