As a/an SINGLE FAMILY HOUSING SPECIALIST (QAD), you will:

  • Identify and formulate plans or policies for insured programs relating to risk management and participant monitoring.
  • Recommend amendments to statutes, regulations and handbooks.
  • Participate in establishing HUD policy and procedure formulation affecting lenders, for the Headquarters Office of Lender Activities and Program Compliance.
  • Investigate and gather evidence for use by the Branch, Division and/or HUD Headquarters in administrative proceedings, civil cases and criminal referrals.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-12 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Analyzing FHA single family mortgage loan policies and procedures; AND
-Evaluating/determining eligibility and compliance of Single Family mortgage loans and as necessary recommend action to be taken with any identified problems; AND
-Determining FHA compliance requirements on items such as credit reports, asset documents, and appraisals; AND
-Communicating verbally and in writing with industry representatives and the general public.

Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-9 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience resolving FHA Single family mortgage loan policy and procedure problems and concerns; AND
- Familiarity with handbooks concerning FHA lenders to determine compliance with loan origination, identifying actions necessary for the correction of lenders deficiencies; AND
- Communicating verbally and in writing with industry representatives and the general public; AND
- Experience preparing correspondence, technical back-up documentation, reports and other information for action or implementation
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M.; in order to be qualifying, education must be in a related field.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate education in excess of the first 2 years may be combined with experience.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
