    This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML), with one vacancy in Miami, FL.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Research Oceanographer, you will perform the following duties:

    • Assist with managing environmental and oceanographic data systems and use advanced applications to analyze real time and/or historical data. Validate appropriate and relevant data and identify questionable or conflicting data.
    • Assist with managing the coordination and implementation of a broad professional or oceanographic programs. Carry out assigned plans, ensuring approaches and methods for approaching issues are followed, tracked, and documented.
    • Conduct research studies and developmental projects designed to capitalize on or incorporate the benefits of new oceanographic, science, technology and apply new data collection and analysis techniques and experience to solve complex operational challenges.
    • Serve as supervisor, responsible for planning and distributing work to be accomplished by subordinates; evaluate the work performance of staff, provide technical oversight, instruction and addresses poor performance.

    Occasional travel - Up to 10% of domestic or foreign travel may be required for this position.
