Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Infrastructure Services - Support Infrastructure components including wide area networking and converged technologies to include managing connectivity to OIG Offices, managing OIG wide area network, telecommunications (phone lines, data and voice circuits) Video conferencing technologies, wireless network, and universal network services such as infrastructure applications (CiscoWorks, WhatsUp Gold, Dell Open Manage, etc)
  • Service Desk and Asset Management - Provide all OIG customers a single point of contact for all Information Technology questions, support and communication.
  • Client Technologies - Desktop configuration and standardization management, desktop software deployment. Manage FDCC/desktop images.
  • Platform Operating Systems - Computing systems infrastructure, hardware, network OS (windows), virtualization, terminal services environment.
  • Back Office Systems - Computing systems services, IT Core applications implementation and support, manage SQL servers, encryption, Anti Virus / HIPS and other security software implementation and management, system security, messaging systems, terminal services application management, Active directory management (manage GPOs, OU structure, local, and security groups),

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Completing computer project assignments that are directly related to IT support, AND
  • Deployment and customer service requirements; AND
  • Techniques pertinent to providing IT user support; AND
  • Providing leadership for timely completion of tasks.
OR

You may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. (In order to be creditable, education must be related to the position being filled with a major study of computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.) Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.

To be qualifying, degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

Conditions of Employment:
