Teach group and private classes according to American Red Cross Learn to Swim program guidelines. Develop lesson plans that are appropriate for each age group or skill level. Conduct swim assessments to ensure each student is placed in the appropriate class. Maintain class attendance and lesson log and submit to Lead Swim Instructor. Provide feedback to parents and students to ensure they are progressing with their swim technique. Ensure health and safety of the students by ensuring that teaching and practice areas are kept free of hazards. Check that the teaching materials and equipment are safe before using. Be sure that the teaching materials and equipment are stored properly at the end of swim lessons. Keep storage area clean. Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plan. Enforce facility policies and rules. Complete additional duties which support the supervisor. Knowledge of and experience with lifeguarding procedures are desired. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of locker rooms, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, and sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
