This position is located in the FDIC Tech Lab (FDITECH) of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.

The FDITECH Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer may work from any of the FDIC Regional Offices or Headquarters, with the expectation that he or she spends a reasonable amount of time at Headquarters on a reoccurring basis, at the conclusion of mandatory telework.

Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $273,400.

Duties

Help

Builds a holistic, enterprise-wide AI technologies program for managing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies as an asset across its Lifecycle, and provides authoritative direction on AI technologies and information governance, AI technologies design/modeling, AI technologies analytics, AI technologies science, and AI technologies retention/disposition and usage.

Analyzes and plans for anticipated changes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies capacity requirements and provides recommendations on the application of new AI technologies and architectures.

Provides strategic direction in the development and implementation of enterprise-wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies standards, policy, reporting requirements and relevant frameworks, and identifies how AI technologies and solutions can drive innovation.

Researches and stays abreast on current Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies strategies employed by other federal agencies and in the private sector to identify opportunities and practices that would benefit the organization.

Acts as a trusted advisor developing and maintaining effective relationships with senior leadership across the organization, and preparing and presenting briefings to senior leadership and Corporate-level governing bodies on complex and controversial issues.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience in a government agency (equivalent in the federal government to CG/GS-15 or above) or private industry. Specialized experience is defined as experience managing, planning, developing, and implementing Artificial Intelligence technology and their applications, and leading the vision, design, and launch of innovative Artificial Intelligence strategies.

NOTE: Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind, such as learning and problem-solving.

FDIC Corporate Experts (CX) are in the Federal competitive service and not the Senior Executive Service (SES). As a CX at the FDIC, you will provide executive leadership, and coordinate the Corporation's programs and policies.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 8.93% to a high of 47.85%. 3. Ability to lead major strategic, cross-functional initiatives within large organizations to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment, and to establish frameworks to execute programmatic operations.

4. Knowledge of current and emerging information technologies used in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and AI applications/solutions development.

5. Ability to explain Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and technologies, communicate processes, propose ideas, and negotiate with various stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and Corporate-level governing bodies.
