As an NTE Student Trainee (Program Analyst) Intern, your major duties may include: 
- Develop and recommend methods and procedures to improve workflow, document processes, and eliminate unnecessary tasks. 
- Participate in special studies and projects. Participates with other specialists in performing work associated with conducting special studies, program initiatives, or projects.
- Perform analytical work assignments. Following instructions given by the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist, performs highly structured work assignments of limited difficulty combined with training that familiarizes the employee with functions and operations of the organization.
- Prepare written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents.

Eligibility Requirements

1) You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows: An individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93–842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program. 2) GPA: Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Performing research; AND
- Compiling relevant data; AND
- Performing preliminary analysis of gathered information.
OR
You may qualify based solely on education as follows: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements and may be computed using the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required and adding the percentage of the required education completed; the total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

A copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned is required.

If qualifying with experience, the experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
- All selectees must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
- All selectees must maintain student status for the duration of the appointment.
- Complete a trial period, which is at a minimum the entire length of the Internship program.
- Provide proof of education (transcripts) prior to the job offer; An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Public Trust – Background Investigation will be required. 
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.  Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- Undergo an income tax verification.
- The employment of any candidate, including a current employee or a new hire, selected for this position may be conditional upon classification and/or audit of federal tax returns.  This audit may include up to 2 years of returns.

Candidates can perform effectively in the position with limited training and/or orientation.

Category 'C': Candidates at this level meet the minimum qualifications, but are only proficient in few to none of the quality ranking factor criteria of the position. Candidate can perform effectively in the position with the significant amount of training and/or orientations.

Veterans' preference is applied after applicants are assessed. Qualified preference-eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10% or more will be listed at the top of the highest category.
