WHAT IS THE SMALL BUSINESS/SELF-EMPLOYED (SB/SE) DIVISION?

The following are the duties of this position:

Protects confidentiality of taxpayer information within the confines of disclosure laws, rules, and regulations.
Assigns, updates, and closes cases on Examination Returns Control System (ERCS), Audit Information Management System (AIMS) and Report Generation System (RGS) as directed by supervisor.
Requests and reviews Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS)/AIMS printouts and transcripts to aid in processing cases.
Mails Statutory Notices of Deficiency (SNOD) packages to taxpayers. Suspends and monitors SNOD and other program cases. Defaults and closes SNOD and other program cases.
Responds to routine telephone calls from internal and external customers regarding Statutory Notices of Deficiency and directs to senior reviewer or supervisor, as appropriate.
Monitors Docket List and researches Docket Information Management System (DIMS) to identify petitioned Tax Court cases.
Researches a variety of internal and external systems to determine additional and/or alternative addresses for undeliverable mail. Takes appropriate action based on the direction from the senior reviewer or supervisor.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information and determining corrective action on accounts, researching for missing/unclear accounting information and reviewing financial documents submitted for completeness.
OR
EDUCATION: Completed four (4) years above high school in any field, in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
