Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position serves as a Public Affairs Specialist, GS -1035-12/13 in Army Futures Command (AFC), located in Fort Sill, OK. AFC exists to modernize the way the Army does business by creating a space of endless possibilities to explore, develop, and test new methods, organizations, and technologies.

Duties

Help
  • Write all correspondences accurately to ensure compliance with command plans.
  • Advise on developing strategies to inform senior leaders.
  • Coordinate with Speechwriter to ensure message synchronization
  • Develop innovative protocol and communication concepts, principles, and practices.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience-GS 12: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Applying Public Affairs Command Regulations and Policies; 2) Preparing News release for internal and external audience distribution 3) Working as a member of a public affairs team to develop proactive responses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Specialized Experience-GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes; (1) Applying Public Affairs Command Regulations and Policies; (2) Analyzing Public Affairs Program; and (3) Taking actions such as; preparing, editing, writing and disseminating of news releases, news and feature stories for internal and external audience distribution. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Additional information

  • This position will be filled as either a GS-1035-12 or GS-1035-13. If position is filled at the GS-1035-12 level, promotion to target grade, GS-13, may be done non-competitively provided all requirements are met to include time-in-grade, however promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
