Duties

Help

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Writes and edits various types of subject matter covering the agency's policies, programs, activities, and issues. 
  • Using principles, methods, and knowledge of written communication, develops authoritative information, researches complex topics, and interviews policy and subject matter experts to collect information to draft and edit detailed documents for the Office of Communications in support of the agency’s mission.

  • Develops, writes, edits, and reviews product recall announcements, news releases, articles and feature stories, blogs, brochures, pamphlets, fact sheets, reports, multi-media presentations, exhibits, displays, speeches, correspondence, other communications and outreach documents.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               
  • Reviews all OCM staff material for correct grammar, presentation, organization, clarity, accuracy, conformance to standards, readability level, style, and suitability to the audience.                                                            
  • Provides training on writing in general and writing communications materials.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Qualifications

All applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate ability to: 1) develop written products that articulate, interpret and explain highly complex, potentially controversial, and important agency/company policies, programs, and research findings; 2) make final reviews of proposed publications for style, design, layout, and editorial aspects before release; and 3) translate technical material into comprehensible language, both for technical and general readership.

After the vacancy closes, we will review your application package to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
