Duties

Help
  • Serves as a guiding arm for OD's cybersecurity and enterprise system efforts. Aligns initiatives across the organization through the development of a strong governance and outcome-based model.
  • Identifies, develops, and oversees holistic large-scale Information Technology (IT) initiatives that modernize, support, and advance OD's immediate and long-term strategic business objectives and enterprise architecture goals.
  • Oversees, develops, and implements comprehensive portfolio and project management processes designed to address current state or inform on areas of concern, map process improvement activities, and track the implementation of new investments.
  • Serves as a partner in the development of OD's Strategic IT Plan that includes budget requirements to ensure linkage to OD's revitalization goals.
  • Creates and implements an enterprise governance structure that aligns IT initiatives with business priorities while balancing resources (human and fiscal) to optimize IT investments.
  • Serves as the first-level supervisor of two teams which support the Director in their efforts in identifying, developing, and overseeing holistic large-scale IT initiatives that advance OD's strategic objectives and enterprise goals.
  • Provides leadership for the expanding use of information resources as a major goal of OD's strategic goals.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:

To qualify for this Supervisory IT Specialist your resume must demonstrate IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates all of the following four competencies:

1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; and
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; and
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and
4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND I qualify for this position at the GS-15 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: advising the senior leadership on the strategic direction and management of significant enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) resources and investments; establishing policies, guidelines, and standards for organization-wide IT; developing or implementing IT strategic planning for an organization; evaluating the performance of team members and providing counseling, advice, and instruction concerning both technical and administrative matters; and conducting appropriate analyses (Alternatives Analysis, Cost/Benefit Analysis, Impact Analysis, etc.) for new IT investment ideas and new technologies.
