Duties

Help

As a IT CYBER SECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serving as the Cyber Security (CS) Compliance Lead reporting to Information Management and Technology (IMT), Policy and Planning Branch, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) facilitating the implementation of cyber security initiatives following established DSCA policy process and procedures as well as DoD regulation.
  • Overseeing a team of government and contractor of Information Systems Security Managers (ISSM) working to maintain compliance with these regulations and requirements as well as all applicable National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and DoD guidance and cyber security regulations and requirements.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with regional partners, stakeholders, and other cyber security program dependencies to secure the DSCA enterprise.
  • Coordinating DSCA CS Compliance Program with other CS Leads and CISO.

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or attain at least an information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level II certification within 6 months of entering the position.
  • Employees will be required to sign a Statement of Understanding regarding the certification requirement and maintaining the required certification is a condition of employment.
  • This position has been identified and will be covered by DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and requires certification.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:

  • Serving as a Cyber Security (CS) Specialist ensuring tasks and projects are on schedule with awareness of common compliance requirements and ability to translate this to risk;
  • Implementing CS initiatives following established Project Management methodology;
  • Coordinating with stakeholders and partners to establish and manage organization's information systems' compliance with a focus on IT and cybersecurity controls;
  • Conducting security analysis of IT activities to ensure appropriate security measures are in place;
  • Developing methods to monitor, measure, and effectively communicate cybersecurity risk, compliance, and assurance efforts.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series as listed below:

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
