As a Sports Specialist (Cross Country/Track & Field) you will:

You will be required to perform the duties of a Assistant Coach in the Academy’s Cross Country/Track & Field program.  You will be responsible for the development and conduct of educational courses and programs, research, instruction and academic counseling of Midshipmen, and assuming a share of departmental and other academic responsibilities.

The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and experienced professional who works to support the Mission of the USMMA.  They must be capable of adjusting to various work environments, physical demands, and schedules.  They must be able to work well within the structure of the Cross Country/Track & Field staff and must be a positive contributor.

  • GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
  • This position may be eligible for a flexible Maxi-Flex Schedule in conformance with Agency policies and approval of the required agreement.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet all of the education and specialized experience requirements below:

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a field related to the duties of the position.

Education Substitution:

Applicants who do not possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a field closely related to the duties required for the position may substitute a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an unrelated field if they also possess significant professional training and specialized experience that is closely related to the duties of the position at a level of complexity and responsibility equivalent to those performed in the position.

Specialized Experience:

  • Must possess at least 1 academic year of teaching Physical Education, Physical Fitness, or similar related courses, above the high school level (such as through academic instructions, student teaching, professional certification courses, presentations, etc.) or 1 full sports season of intercollegiate coaching experience in a variety of events groups, strength and conditioning as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at the NCAA Division I, II, or III or NAIA level.

Preferred Applicants should Possess:

  •  Master’s Degree in a field related to the duties of the position.
  •  At least two or more full years of NCAA Division I, II or III College level coaching as a Cross Country/Track & Field Coach.
  •  At least two or more full years of recruiting at the collegiate level.
  •  Expertise in technical aspects of Cross Country and Track/Field.
  •  Intercollegiate coaching experience in variety of events groups, strength and conditioning. Not limited to specific event group, duties adjustable to applicants event group strengths

Education

The educational requirement for this Sports Specialist position includes a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to the duties of the position. Your application package must include transcripts to support that you have met this requirement.
