Duties

Help
  • Install, maintain and repair electric wiring systems.
  • Test circuits and equipment by use of voltmeters, ammeters, watt-meters, meggers, ohmmeters, etc.
  • Provide support to other systems with electrical interface and components such as various mechanical systems and coordinates work with other trade personnel to effect multi-discipline repairs.
  • Plan and lay out work utilizing sketches and specifications when provided.
  • Disassemble, repair, replace, service and adjust wiring, switches, controllers, variable speed drives, etc
  • Perform the full range of tasks associated with the repair, overhaul, maintenance, servicing and installation of 120/208 and 480/277 volt three phase systems.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to perform common Journeyman Electrician duties under normal supervision. Skilled in selecting tools required to fix equipment and estimate necessary materials or parts needed to repair electrical systems; I have the ability to diagnose and locate malfunctions. I have the ability to repair, replace, and service components of an electrical system. I work under normal supervision of a work leader who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work assignments involve long periods of sitting, standing, bending and working in cramped and awkward positions. Work may require working at moderate heights from ladders or scaffolding. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier objects.
  • Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas; occasionally works outside. Work on voltages up to 480 volts and in the vicinity of 13,800 volts. Subject to the possibility of high-voltage electric shock. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones; exposed to serious injury from shocks and burns due to working in close proximity to power sources. Frequently exposed to contagious disease, toxic chemicals, fumes and radioactive materials. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones from falls from ladders. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment as required.
