You will serve as the Assistant Deputy Associate Administrator for Exploration within the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters. The position will focus on assisting in formulation and execution of an integrated science strategy for exploration within SMD, through cross-Agency collaboration with the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD), Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD), and the NASA Field Centers.
Summary
You will serve as the Assistant Deputy Associate Administrator for Exploration within the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters. The position will focus on assisting in formulation and execution of an integrated science strategy for exploration within SMD, through cross-Agency collaboration with the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD), Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD), and the NASA Field Centers.
Implement commercial initiates for lunar delivery service on behalf of NASA to land and operate science instruments, technology development payloads, and exploration payloads on the Moon.
Coordinate commercial lunar delivery service activities across mission directorates in alignment with the Agency?s exploration objectives.
Develop science instruments to accomplish principal investigator (PI)-driven objectives in alignment with decadal survey recommendations on lunar science.
Implement competitive peer reviews to select science investigations and science instruments.
Assist in executing the Lunar Discovery and Exploration Program (LDEP) to achieve an innovative and sustainable program of scientific and human exploration with commercial and international partners.

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education requirement (shown below), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level working with, understanding, and evaluating scientific study proposals and advising others on scientific merit and the ability to implement on a scientific space flight mission; AND
Experience formulating a scientific research instrument or a space flight mission and measuring performance against the instrument/mission plan.
*NOTE: Preference may be given to credible research experience documented in established professional publications/journals.

Education
You must have successfully completed a bachelor's or graduate degree with a major in either a) engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science.
*Note: Curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus.
Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
