This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) career-reserved position. Positions in the SES are not graded. SES pay is commensurate with qualifications. As the Chief, Center for Optimization and Data Science (CODS), you will:
- Research, evaluate, develop, and implement new and emerging statistical and data science methodologies, tools, and systems to develop new products and to optimize Census Bureau processes.
- Champions innovation in the area of adaptive design of procedures for the capture, management and analysis of data and paradata from multiple sources, including sample surveys and censuses, as well as administrative records and other non-survey sources, thus conducting data collection in a way to optimize the balance of multiple dimensions of quality, risk and cost.
- Research and develop data analytic algorithms and software that create new products and optimize Census Bureau processes for demographic and economic measurement.
- Furnish and support high performance computing for research purposes across the Census Bureau and include the Federal Statistical Research Data Center users.
Occasional travel - Travel may be required to attend or present at meetings or conferences on topics relevant to the U.S. Census Bureau's mission.
