    Summary

    This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as Public Affairs strategist and social media functional lead for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, Public Affairs Office, Emerging Media Group, overseeing social media strategy, messaging development, content curation and execution, and content performance and evaluation.

    Responsibilities

    As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST (SOCIAL MEDIA) at the GS-1035-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

    • Serves as a strategic communications advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff and key staff on social media strategy, messaging development and resonance, best practices to reach desired audiences, and insights into the communication environment.
    • Plans, conducts, and coordinates strategy and content for the Joint Staff Social Media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn.
    • Serves as the official representative on social media matters to the Office Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Public Affairs (PA) staff and Office of Secretary of Defense, Department of Defense, Service and Combatant Command (CCMD) social media teams.
