Duties

Help

As a Clerk (Office Automation), you will:

- Assign claim numbers and maintains claim number log in spreadsheet format. Maintain suitable control records to prevent duplication in assigning claim numbers.
- Utilize spreadsheets to assign and maintain control of all permit numbers for applications received in the unit. Enter all new applications and correspondence received in the unit into the Technical Services System (TSS) database.
- Utilize spreadsheets to track export documents and verifications for exportation. Monitor spreadsheet for missing verifications and notifies appropriate specialist of missing documentation to initiate assessment process.
- Utilize available computer software (including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and graphics) in preparing memoranda, letters, reports, charts, forms and other material from rough drafts, oral instructions and handwritten notes.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements  by the closing date of this announcement.

Selective Factor: You must be able to type at least 40 wpm; AND

Specialized experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 

- Utilizing computer systems to enter data of records and preparing reports; OR
- Reviewing files or documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with guidelines.

OR

You may substitute education for experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level. 

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
You may substitute education for experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-05, you must have been at the GS-04 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
