Summary

As a Supply Management Specialist, you will serve as a liaison, point of contact (for supply service) between the Northeast Supply and Acquisition Center and customer agencies on a local, national and international basis.

Duties

Help

  • Monitors transportation management and business process functions associated with export operations, including air clearance authority processing, seavan booking and provide custom documents and other requirements for overseas shipments and transportation operations involving Department of Defense (DoD) Containerization and Consolidation Point (CCP) and aerial port operations.
  • Conducts and maintain close liaison with all branches of the military and vendors for determining transportation documentation requirements and carrier transportation capabilities are performed within the time frame to meet organizational goals and customers’ needs.
  • Evaluates center performance to improve service delivery, program performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides supply support for FAS customers throughout the Region.
  • Processes incoming domestic and export exception high priority requisitions as well as, assigned customer agency supply requisitions.

  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level).
  • Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee.  We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.

The GS-9 salary range starts at $61,742 per year.  

The GS-11 salary range starts at $74,702 per year.

To qualify for the GS-9, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience performing basic inventory/supply management assignments which include entering data into supply systems (e.g., FEDSTRIP/MILSTRIP), and interpreting/applying ordering procedures OR has a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

To qualify for the GS-11, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing supply system operational functions (for example, MILSTRIP, FEDSTRIP, FEDERAL BILLING PROCEDURES, FSS19 SYSTEMS, or similar functions); providing customer service; and utilizing statistical techniques dealing with supply issues OR has a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

We will use a method called Category Rating to assess your application. Here’s how it will work:

  • You will be scored on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities: 
    1. Knowledge of the transportation requirements and systems for specific geographic areas (international/continental United States).
    2. Knowledge of supply and procurement management regulations to analyze and resolve problems of a procedural or factual nature.
    3. Ability to deal effectively with customer agencies and representatives.
    4. Knowledge of automated data systems that support supply management
    5. Knowledge of requisition management in order to provide monitoring and tracking to ensure that customer orders are received.
  • Your answers to the questions will be used to place you in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified
  • We will verify your answers to the questions in your resume. If your resume doesn’t support your answers, we may lower your score, which could place you in a lower category.
  • Within each category, veterans will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
