Duties

Help

This position is located in the Operations Support Division (OSD), Office of Investigations (OI), Office of the Inspector General (OIG).   The OSD is responsible for the OI's business analytics with the purpose of collecting and analyzing data, regularly reporting, and providing statistical data to devise, execute, and improve organizational strategies and processes. 

Responsibilities


The ideal candidate will perform the following duties: 

  • Participate with the OSD team in the planning, development, coordination, and application of advanced analytical systems and methodologies designed to detect errors, analyze trends and anomalies, and report OI and OIG strategic performance measures
  • Query, analyze, prepare, and present reporting options for managers at all levels.
  • Build, or oversee development of, reports and tools based on outcomes of performance data and customer feedback.
  • Participate in the development of strategic plans for obtaining the analytical capabilities necessary to support OIG’s mission and operational needs.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 

GS-09: 

1) Collecting and verifying relevant data from various internal and external sources;
2) Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data methods to analyze trends, identify problems, and recommend solutions;
3) Designing routine and non-routine data audits to ensure accuracy and relevance of systems; AND
4) Developing factsheets and other high-level summaries of data to management. OR

Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience Requirement: master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

GS-11:

1) Oversee the collecting and verifying of relevant data from various internal and external sources to aide management in decisions, plans, and organizational strategies;
2) Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data methods to analyze trends, identify problems, and recommend solutions;
3) Designing routine and non-routine data audits to ensure accuracy and relevance of systems;
4) Presenting statistical data of information for reports, briefings, and publications; AND
5) Participate in strategic planning with senior leaders, contributing data analytics to aide in organizational improvements and processes. OR

Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience Requirement: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
