As a AMMUNITION INSPECTOR (Title 32) with the Texas Army National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Conducts pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue. Checks each item for restrictions or suspensions.
Inspects ammunition, performs maintenance, care, preservation, shipping and storage operations, assuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, drawings, etc. during operations.
Responsible for the requirements of all ammunition management documentation. Researches, analyzes, and completes the proper and required documentation of ammunition transfer records, surveillance records, ammunition condition reports, quality deficiency reports, magazine data cards and numerous other documentation and/or reports.
Assists in the National Level Ammunition Capability (NLAC) resupply and excess management process as required. Receives shipments of all types of ammunition.
General knowledge of ammunition processes, regulations, and inspection requirements. Develops technical expertise through schooling, technical publications and personal experience of ammunition processes, regulations and inspection requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointment Factor(s): This is a Title 32 Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Applicants who are not already on-board employees with the Texas Army National Guard do not meet eligibility for this position.

All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas Army/Air National Guard, and
All current members of the Texas Army/Air National Guard.
Remarks:
This is an Indefinite position, which may convert to Permanent at a future date without requiring further competition. On-Board employees will be offered a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year, extendable up to two years total, which may convert to Permanent at a future date, or choose to convert to Indefinite, which may convert to Permanent at a future date.
Incumbent must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11 (Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives) and must pass a local and national law enforcement files check.
Incumbent must meet the requirements of DA PAM 385-64, other applicable regulations, as well as validation by the ammunition and explosives safety certification board. Must complete a Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations.
Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
Must perform TDY in conjunction with duties.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within twelve months of appointment.
This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision.
Must be certified in Hazardous Waste Site Personnel (29 CFR1910.120).8. Physical required.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Military Grades: Enlisted: E-4/SPC through E-6/SSG
Compatible Military Assignments: Enlisted MOS: 89B
Compatible Military Assignment (per UMD): Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered; however, applicant must be Duty MOS assigned to a compatible position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations within 12 months of appointment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To qualify at the WG-09 grade level, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment experience reflecting at least 18 months experience interpreting wiring diagrams and facility blueprints, as well as scale indications in a toxic or radioactive environment. Experience planning work sequences and determining the requirements for serviceability of equipment, and knows the impact of repairs on related integral devices. Experience interpreting technical publications with the ability to assist subordinates or other employees in interpreting technical publications applicable to the detection, identification and destruction of numerous types of explosives and toxic materials.
