PLEASE NOTE: This position is a Renewable Term Appointment Not to Exceed 6 years. The status of this position is considered "time limited" and can be renewed as needed to support the mission, indefinitely, in increments of up to 6 years. At the discretion of management, this position may also be made Permanent.

Work involves serving as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer for the organization's initiatives, projects, and plans. Incumbent will serve as advisor, advocate, catalyst for change, and institutional resource focused on infusing DEI into all programs and activities, tracking progress toward these goals, and communicating progress to stakeholders and the broader community. Responsible for the overall management and implementation of DEI strategy and works closely with the organization's senior leaders to carry out key initiatives that support DEI in the context of operationalizing science and all laboratory research, business, and leadership talent domains. Establishes and/or collaborates with internal and external resources to develop guidelines, criteria, and standards for the conduct of all facets of the organization's diversity initiatives and policies, while ensuring support of DEVCOM ARL's scientific mission, values and talent management in the ARL competencies. Understands and navigates federal regulations, rules and policies that impact DEI initiatives and develops targeted and specific solutions to augment an organizational culture that is DEI-focused within the foundational research mission. Work involves cross-functional responsibilities to develop data and collect metrics, establishing policy, identifying any areas of improvement in order to refine programs and processes in accordance with Federal, Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Army Futures Command Combat Capability Development Command and organizational requirements. Conducts ongoing analysis of the current and future workforce, coordinating as needed with other staff elements to then identify barriers to maximizing strategic initiatives and long-term workforce productivity as it relates to DEI. Facilitates partnerships and collaborations to establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders, such as the DoD research community, academia/universities, industry partners and other federal and private organizations in order to augment and sustain DEI efforts. Provides recommendations to align business practices, policies, strategic vision and work in manners that support DEI, the DEVCOM ARL Director's initiatives, and the ARL Campaign Initiatives.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DJ-03 (GS-13 equivalent or higher) grade level in the Federal pay system. Specialized experience is defined as:

(1) Experience leading implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives for an organization; applying federal regulations, rules and policies that impact DEI initiatives; and

(2) Experience working closely with an organization's senior leaders to implement initiatives that support DEI; and

(3) Experience tracking progress towards DEI goals and communicating results to organizational stakeholders.
