Duties

Help
  • Serve as an organization subject matter expert in formatting and editing of directives.
  • Use writing skills and editorial judgment to strategically develop messages for various audiences.
  • Publish directives, guidance, and other policy related documents in support of mission area functions.
  • Develop the boundaries of the subjects involved, set deadlines, and discuss how to approach anticipated problems and controversies.
  • Plan and complete written assignments subject to established agency objectives, interpret policy, analyze and interpret information gathered, and solve all but the most complex or controversial problems in presenting the information.
  • Analyze information and may use desktop publishing technology to write or edit materials, develop graphic materials, prepare layouts, or print and disseminate final products.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To be qualified for this position, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the Federal GS-11 level or higher, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as writing, formatting, and editing content for directives, guidance, and policy documents. Providing quality review of documents for grammar, style, and formatting requirements prior to publishing. Monitoring progress and status of directives, reports, and documents for timely completion and adherence to prescribed transmittal processes. Publishing final work products to designated platform. Contributing to the planning of new or existing business processes. And applying interpersonal, oral, and written communication principles, and techniques to communicate effectively with officials or peers at various levels within and outside the agency.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the 06/22/2021 of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined above.

Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.

  • Current permanent career/career conditional employees of the FPAC mission Area (FPAC Business Center, FSA, NRCS and RMA) may be selected in their current duty locations. Salary will be adjusted to the location in which you are selected. The FPAC Hub duty location for non-FPAC mission area applicants will be determined upon selection. Salary will be adjusted to the location in which you are selected. The FPAC Hub duty locations for non-FPAC applicants will be: Kansas City, MO ,Raleigh, NC, Washington, DC, Ft Worth, TX, and Ft Collins, CO.

  • This position is eligible for telework within the local commuting area of the position and other flexible work arrangements. Current USDA policy includes telework for an 8 hour work day, 4 days per week; other flexibilities are possible dependent upon availability and/or the position and its associated duties. Employee participation is at the discretion of the supervisor.
