The Civil Rights Historian will be responsible for providing programmatic coordination and direction for the history program's efforts on the African American experience and the incumbent will report directly to the Regional Historian. The incumbent will have extensive experience in the field of history with a focus on the African American experience. The incumbent will also be responsible for supporting efforts related to history for Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act and working collaboratively on research efforts with Interior Region 2's Regional Cultural Anthropologist and Historians, the parks, and external scholars.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary, but at times requires travel to repositories of information, and may require visits to remote sites which require walking or riding over rough, uneven surfaces. Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, which entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
